Categorising transactions
Your transactions will be assigned automatically to a category in the Activity space of your app so you can see how you’re using your money^.
There may be instances when a transaction gets assigned to a category that doesn’t feel right for you. You can change the category, and we’ll remember it for next time when the transaction looks like you’re shopping at the same place.
How to assign or re-assign a category
- Tap the Activity tab in the BNZ app.
- Tap Track your spend.
- Scroll down to the list of transactions and tap on the transaction you want to assign to a new category.
- Tap on the button near the top of the screen that says the name of the current category (or Pick a category if the transaction hasn’t been categorised).
- Select your preferred category from the list of categories shown. Future transactions with the same store will be assigned to this category.
Note: Any pending transactions, or transactions made in the last 24 hours, on the weekend, or a public holiday, will appear as ‘Categorising’. You won’t be able to assign a new category until the transaction is categorised.
