Changes to Alipay Letter of Offer

Effective from 8 May 2025

We’re making changes to our Letter of Offer for the provision of Alipay merchant services to reflect the expansion of the Alipay services. The changes include:

  • updating references from Alipay to Alipay+
  • expanding the definition of the Alipay+ services and related changes
  • adding details of the Alipay entity
  • adding a license to use certain intellectual property
  • correcting minor typographical errors and making other clarifying or formatting changes.

Introduction of BNZ Rewards programme terms and conditions and changes to BNZ credit card terms and conditions 

Effective from 7 May 2025

We’re expanding the BNZ Rewards programme to all eligible BNZ personal customers, including those who have no BNZ Advantage credit card. To reflect this change, we are:  

  • introducing a new separate BNZ Rewards programme terms and conditions
  • updating our BNZ credit card terms and conditions.

BNZ Rewards programme

The BNZ Rewards programme terms and conditions apply to all BNZ customers who meet the eligibility criteria for the BNZ Rewards programme. To be eligible for the BNZ Rewards programme, you must be an individual person, 18 years or older, own a BNZ account in your personal capacity, and meet all our current identity verification requirements.  

If you do not wish to participate in the BNZ Rewards programme, you can opt out at any time.

  • Follow the prompts in the BNZ app or Internet Banking.

BNZ credit card terms and conditions

The changes to our BNZ credit card terms and conditions include:

  • moving all details about rewards from our BNZ credit card terms and conditions to our BNZ Rewards programme terms and conditions — except details about BNZ Advantage customers earning BNZ Points on Eligible Purchases (clause 6) 
  • stating legal details about our BNZ Advantage Visa Business Card in the ‘Important Information’ section and clause 18.2, including that:
    • your BNZ Advantage Visa Business Card must be used wholly for business or investment purposes (or both)
    • your BNZ Advantage Visa Business Card is a ‘commercial credit payment product’ for the purposes of the Retail Payment System Act 2022
  • updating the address for the Banking Ombudsman
  • including a new definition for Business Days in clause 1.1
  • including contact information for Rewards queries, within the key contact information
  • correcting minor typographical errors and making formatting changes.

Changes to personal and business fees

Effective from 29 April 2025

We’re making changes to some of our personal and business fees.

Personal account, service, and facility fees brochure

The changes include:

  • clarifying how we charge the withdrawal fee for our Rapid Save account – on page 2
  • removing the following fees from our security and loan documentation fees – on page 9:
    • Preparation of Deed of Lien 
    • Execution of Memorandum of Priority of Mortgage 
  • correcting minor typographical errors, and making other clarifying or formatting changes.

Business and Agribusiness account and service fees guide

The changes include:

  • clarifying how we charge the withdrawal fee for our Rapid Save account – on page 2 
  • removing the details of our MyMoney for Business account, which is no longer available – on page 3 and page 6
  • adding the fee for Same Day Sweep transactions – on page 6
  • updating and clarifying our auditor’s confirmation report fee – on page 8
  • correcting minor typographical errors, and making other clarifying or formatting changes.

Changes to BNZ Merchant Service Guide

Effective from 19 April 2025

We’re making changes to our BNZ Merchant Service Guide.

The changes include:

  • updating the section ‘Recurring transactions and account on file transactions’
  • removal of references to Windcave payment gateway under ‘UnionPay Online Payments’
  • updating some references of Alipay wallet to Alipay+ payment platform, and addition of some supported wallets
  • other formatting changes.

Updates to our Master Privacy Policy

Effective from 31 March 2025

As part of an annual review of our Master Privacy Policy, we’re making some minor updates to improve transparency and reflect changes to our business, operating environment, and the products and services we offer. 

The changes include:

  • updating the marketing section to include ‘digital marketing’ 
  • adding information on ‘Confirmation of Payee’ data sharing between third parties 
  • updating how we partner with third parties to develop products and services
  • updating our mailing address.

Changes to our Standard terms and conditions

Effective from 17 March 2025

We’re making changes to our Standard terms and conditions.

The changes include:

  • clarifying that all mentions of our Flexi Debit Visa card also apply to our Flexi Debit for Business Visa card, in the:
    • key information section – on page 2
    • introduction to section 14 – on page 18
    • explanation in section 26 of ‘Flexi Debit Visa card’ – on page 37
  • clarifying how we calculate interest in clause 4.2 – on page 11 
  • updating when a term deposit accrues interest in clause 24.13 – on page 34 
  • explaining our Non-Profit Organisation account is no longer on sale, at the top of section 25 – on page 36 
  • correcting minor typographical errors, and making other clarifying or formatting changes.

Changes to business fees guide

Effective from 21 February 2025

We’re making changes to our Business and Agribusiness Account and service fees guide.

The changes include:

  • moving the details of our Non-Profit Organisation account, which is no longer on sale, from page 1 to page 3
  • clarifying how we charge electronic and manual transaction fees for our Current Accounts, on page 2.

Non-Profit Organisation transaction account no longer available

Effective from 4 February 2025

We’re simplifying our range of everyday banking products. From 4 February 2025, customers won’t be able to open new Non-Profit Organisation accounts. Instead, customers will have access to our other business transaction and savings accounts.

Changes to our CashFlow Plus Platform Terms and Conditions

Effective from 22 January 2025

We’re making changes to our CashFlow Plus Platform Terms and Conditions (PDF 121KB).

  • removing all references to ‘Waddle’ and replacing with ‘our service providers’  
  • correcting minor typographical errors and making formatting changes.

Changes to our Internet Banking terms and conditions 

Effective from 20 November 2024 

We’re making changes to our Internet Banking terms and conditions.

The changes include:

  • updating clause 5.7 to describe the information we will now use and provide about payees for certain electronic payments
  • updating clause 11.2(c) and 11.3(b)(ii), to redefine our disclosure of customers’ information to help stop crime.

Effective from 20 November 2024

We’re making changes to our standard terms and conditions.

The changes include:

  • updating clause 2.3 and adding new section 23 on pages 6 and 33, to specify how customers under 18 years old can operate their accounts
  • updating clause 3.6 on page 9, to describe the information we will now use and provide about payees for certain electronic payments
  • updating clause 11.2(c) and 11.3(b)(ii) on page 17, to redefine our disclosure of customers’ information to help stop crime
  • renumbering sections after section 23
  • correcting minor typographical errors, and making other clarifying or formatting changes.

Changes to BNZ Merchant Agreement Master terms and conditions

Effective from 30 November 2024

We’re launching a new merchant payment solution called Payap. As a result, we’re making changes to our BNZ Merchant Agreement Master terms and conditions to reflect the inclusion of Payap.

The changes we’re making include:

  • adding new defined terms ‘alternative payment technology’, ‘Payap’, ‘payment scheme’
  • updating clauses 19.3, 28.3, and 28.9 to include payment schemes
  • amending clause 6.8 to require retention of receipts for at least eighteen (18) months after a transaction
  • making other clarifying or formatting changes.
