Adding an international payee
You can add an international payee through Internet Banking or the BNZ app.
Information you’ll need
- The currency you want to send
- Payee’s full name (this must match their account name exactly) and physical address
- Payee’s IBAN or account number, as well as any other bank codes needed to send a payment to their country, such as national clearing codes or SWIFT codes.
How to add an international payee in Internet Banking
- Log in to Internet Banking.
- Open the menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
- Select International from the menu. Depending on your settings, you may be asked to authenticate with your NetGuard card or the BNZ app.
- Select Someone new – Create a new payee.
- Enter the payee’s name, nickname (optional), the currency you want to pay them with, and the country of their bank.
- Depending on the country and currency you selected, you’ll be asked to enter either:
- an account number with a valid national clearing code or SWIFT code, or
- a valid IBAN number.
- Enter the payee’s street address and country. You can also choose to enter an email address, in which case your payee will be notified once BNZ has sent your payment to them.
- Click Save payee to set up a payment for your new payee.
Editing an international payee in Internet Banking
- Log in to Internet Banking.
- Open the menu on the left-hand side of your screen.
- Select International from the menu. Depending on your settings, you may be asked to authenticate with your NetGuard card or the BNZ app.
- Click the To dropdown and select the payee you would like to edit.
- Click Edit payee.
- Edit the details of your payee and click Save changes.
