Setting up and editing automatic payments in the BNZ app
You can set up, edit, suspend, or stop automatic payments in the BNZ app. You can also manage automatic payments in Internet Banking.
Setting up an automatic payment using the menu
- Log in to the BNZ app and select the menu icon (three horizontal lines in top left corner).
- Select Make a payment.
- Choose the account you want to make the payment From.
- Choose the account you want to make the payment To. If you have saved payees, you can select them from this list. If not choose Someone new.
- If you’ve chosen Someone new, enter the account owner name and account number, then select Check account details. We’ll run a payee check to see if the details match information held for that account number.
- Enter the payment amount.
- Choose a payment date to select your first payment date. Select a frequency to choose how regularly you’d like your automatic payment to be paid.
- Enter statement details if you’d like to.
For iOS devices, this will open in a separate screen. Once you’ve entered the details, select Done to save and return to the payment screen. - The payee nickname field will auto populate to the account owner name entered. You can change this if you’d like to. This will appear on the payees statement with your payment and in your transaction history.
- Select the Add to payees toggle to save these details for any future payments.
- Select Pay to set up the automatic payment.
Setting up an automatic payment using drag and drop
You also have the option of using drag and drop to set up automatic payments.
- On the main screen, tap and hold on the account you’d like to pay from.
- Drag the account to the Quick payees section at the bottom of the screen. You can drop it on one of your saved payees, or on the + sign to pay someone new.
- If you’ve chosen Someone new, enter the account owner name and account number, then select Check account details. We’ll run a payee check to see if the details match information held for that account number.
- Enter the payment amount, choose a payment date and select a frequency to make this an automatic payment.
- Select Statement details to enter payment details if you’d like to.
- Select Pay to set up the automatic payment.
Editing or suspending an automatic payment
- From the main screen, select the menu icon in the top left corner.
- Select Upcoming payments and select your payment.
- Select in the fields to edit them directly.
For iOS select the Edit icon in the top right corner. - Edit any of your automatic payment details including the final payment date.
- Select Save, and then Confirm.
Stopping an automatic payment
- From the main screen, select the menu icon in the top left corner.
- Select Upcoming payments and select your payment.
- For iOS select the Bin icon in the top right corner. For Android select the Delete button.
